All Hail Cava!

Tyler Sanders is a sophomore studying Communications, Law, Economics, and Government (CLEG) in the School of Public Affairs. Born in the California Bay Area, he now hails from South Brunswick, New Jersey and loves chess, pragmatic politics, ultimate Frisbee, and speaking with prospective students! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any AU related questions to ts0345a@student.american.edu or come take a tour with him on Monday and Thursday mornings this semester!

Aside from the breathtaking monuments and awesome political internships, my favorite thing about my new home in Washington D.C. is probably CAVA!

Cava is a Mediterranean restaurant that is (in my own humble opinion) taking the chipotle line-service bowl model to new heights. Pick your grains and greens. Add hummus, tzatziki, harissa, and feta. Go with the falafel, braised lamb, chicken, or steamed veggies, and then the fun begins! Choose any (or all) of more than 15 different toppings including crispy pita strips, cucumber salads, lime, olives, mint, and many more. Add a dressing or two (I go with lemon herb tahini or yogurt dill) and you’ve got your very own customized Cava bowl! And don’t forget to grab a drink to test out their home brewed specialty drinks (and refills) including blackberry orange shrub, rosemary limeade, and cucumber mint, yum!

Best of all-CAVA is right next to American University in our friendly Tenleytown neighborhood! Cava is my favorite, my girlfriend’s favorite, and my mom’s favorite (everyone I need to keep happy)! So when anyone comes down to visit, maybe for All-American weekend in October, you know I’m treating them to Cava!
